Bernice
Mae Volesky,
90, of Blue Rapids, KS , died Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Community Memorial
Healthcare in Marysville, KS.
Funeral
services are planned for 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Blue Rapids
United Methodist Church. Burial will
be at Greenwood Cemetery, South of Blue Rapids.
The
family provided some of the following information.
Bernice
was born at Blue Springs, NE on February 7, 1921, the daughter of Lewis and Mary
(Strohm) Walker. She attended Holmsville, NE Consolidated School class of 1938
and attended Peru State Teachers College. She taught in one-room country schools
for three years.
Bernice
was a member of the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church. She had been a member
of the Whiteway Social Club and for years helped prepare the meals for the
Rotary Club.
Bernice
was united in marriage to Henry Anton Volesky on August 23, 1941. He preceded
her in death. To this union were
born three children. Surviving are their son, Jerry Volesky and wife Lana of
Topeka, KS; daughter, Mary Ann Spunaugle and husband Richard of Blue Rapids, KS;
and daughter Carolyn Waterman of Wichita, KS.
Grandchildren
John Volesky and wife Lisa of Plano, TX; Michael Volesky of Topeka, KS; David
Spunaugle of Manhattan, KS; Anthony Spunaugle of Blue Rapids, KS; Cleo Waterman
and Beau Waterman both of Wichita, KS and nine great grandchildren survive.
Bernice
is survived by one sister, Arlene Hecht of Colorado. Preceding her in death were
her parents, two brothers, Donald Walker, Roy Walker, and one sister, Helen
Snyder.
The
family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to a charity of the
donor’s choice.
