BETTY J. LYERLA

 

Betty J. Lyerla, age 81, of Blue Rapids passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010 at Community Memorial Health Care in Marysville.

 

Betty was born June 23, 1928 at Bisbee, Arizona to John W. and Daisy M. (Scott) Deaver.  On September 6, 1947 she married Jack L. Lyerla in Clifton, Arizona.  Since Jack worked in mining they spent two seven year periods in Peru while Jack worked at a copper mine.  She had worked as a secretary and was a homemaker.

 

Betty was a member of the Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over sixty years.

 

Survivors include her daughter Betty Ball of Blue Rapids, four granddaughters; Casey Thompson of Jemison Alabama, Kelsy Ball, Megan Simmons and Whitney Ball of Blue Rapids, by three great-grandchildren and by a sister Lou L. Trexler of Alamogordo, New Mexico.

 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 2004 and by six brothers and sisters; Howard, Deuard, Jerry, Frank, Lucille and Patricia.

 

Funeral services are planned for 2:00PM Monday, January 25, 2010 at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas with burial at Flatwood Cemetery South of Eastland.  Memorials are suggested to either the Blue Rapids Historical Society or the Eastern Star Home and may be sent in care of Terry Christie Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
